**** Highway Construction Notice ****
In 2005 road construction started on the Route 3, the international highway from China to Thailand. Between Botene to Houeisai ( Houei Xai) there can be occasional delays from construction work as well as from mud and landslides after heavy rains. When coming from Luang Prabang you will join this road at Na Deuy about 30+ km from Luang Namtha. If coming from Houeisai (Houei Xai), you may want to consider taking the boat as an alternative. Construction is scheduled to be complete in 2007.
